I’ve noticed that we Australian’s have a really hard time taking a compliment.
So I wanted to write a quick instruction on what to do when someone pays you a compliment. It’s really simple:
Just say thank you.
If it feels uncomfortable to hear, don’t look at the ground and tell them that they’re wrong about you.
Just pause, let yourself accept it and say thank you.
Because we don’t take compliments very well and we all know it, it can take someone working up all their courage to just tell you how they feel.
So just say thank you.
Instead smile to know that this person thinks highly of you.
And just say thank you.
Maybe they see something in you that you just can’t see right now. Something that’s been there all along waiting for you to notice. Something that makes you realise just how truly amazing you are.
And for that gift, say thank you.
